Joseph Grant, MD – Spinal/Orthopedic Surgery

Dr. Grant’s practice is focused on the treatment of spinal disorders. Areas of expertise include complex spinal reconstructive procedures, scoliosis, revision surgery, cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine surgery, and minimally invasive spinal procedures. He has a broad background in both the care of non-operative and surgical spinal disorders in adults.
Prior to joining the Northern California Spine Institute, Dr. Grant was Chief of Service, Department of Orthopedics for Naval Hospital, Subic Bay, Philippines; and Orthopedic Surgeon, Private Practice, Advanced Orthosport Specialists
He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and the American Board of Spine Surgery, and he is an active member of the North American Spine Society. He maintains an active research interest and has participated in numerous clinical studies. Dr. Grant has co-authored an article and book chapter, and he has presented numerous papers at national and local meetings.

Additional Information
Dr. Grant was born and raised in New Jersey and during his military career spent several years in the Philippines. He was an orthopedic consultant for the Oakland Skates professional roller hockey team, and he is currently an orthopedic consultant for the Federal Corrections Institute. He has been practicing in the Bay Area since 1989 and lives in the Tri-Valley area with his family.
